Ennis Outreach Workshop
A DRAMA MASTERCLASS IN ACTING AND DIRECTING
TUTOR: Diarmuid de Faoite
This workshop is an opportunity for participants to engage with drama in an experiential framework, allowing the actor/director to develop a deeper understanding of imagination, characterisation, intention, staging, atmosphere and spatial relationships. It will also explore that special relationship between director and actor, and audience and actor. The exercises used will afford an opportunity to visit the foundational elements of performance in both a profound and humorous way. They will also emphasise the development of one’s own third eye: one’s inner director. As theatre is built on the triad of actor, director and audience, each and every exercise will aim to further participants’ understanding of this triad. There will be a chance for all to act, direct and experience theatre in a positive, creative and non-judgemental atmosphere throughout the course of the day.
The masterclass will consist of a full day on Saturday, 9th October, ending at 4.30pm. A workbook of the day’s exercises and analysis will be made available to participants following the workshop.
