DLI Outreach Summer School 2020 UPDATES
DLI Summer School Outreach Programme 2020.
This is certainly an anxious time for all in our community, as restrictions change with each update to control the spread of COVID-19.
We are pleased to announce new dates for two of our postponed workshops in Navan (26 September) and Birr (11 October). Unfortunately, given the Level 3 Restrictions currently in place in Dublin, the workshop in Mill Theatre , Dundrum must remain postponed until further notice.
The amateur drama community is one which adds a wealth of culture and creativity to the country. It is vital the connections are kept alive to help foster wellbeing and get through this crisis.
Due to health and safety restrictions imposed to protect people from Covid-19 the 55th DLI Summer School could not go ahead in its traditional format but DLI was delighted to be on the funding allocation list for the Small Scale Local Festivals and Summer Schools Scheme. The news of this grant from the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht was very welcome and the funding of €5,000 is certainly being put to good use.
Plans were drawn up by Willie O’Brien, Summer School Director, and team, (Ollie Kenny, Christine O'Brien, Elaine McLoughlin) with support from Valerie McGuile, to present an ‘Outreach DLI Summer School Programme‘. This has been a blended learning approach, a mixture of online and in-person theatre training around the country and adhered to Public Health Guidance for COVID-19:
