DLI/ADCI Playwriting Competition 2020. Huge response!
DLI/ADCI Playwriting Competition 2020
The closing date for entries the DLI/ADCI Playwriting Competition 2020 was yesterday, October 14th, and we were overwhelmed with huge number of entries that we received for this year’s competition. In all we had 58 entrants, the highest number of entries ever, and we are delighted and proud to have offered this outlet to our drama community all over the country to express themselves artistically, in what has been a very difficult year for the arts in general due to Covid-19. We thank all of the entrants most sincerely for making this competition such a success, and wish them well in the judging process.
This of course means that our judging panel, chaired by Walker Ewart and ably assisted by Anne Mekitarian and Trisha Keane have a mammoth task in front of them trying to select a winner and highly commended plays before early December! But no doubt they already have the sleeves rolled up and are working hard on evaluating each script, and the early feedback is that there are some really excellent scripts submitted again this year. We thank Walker, Anne and Trisha for their endeavour so far, and for taking on what is now a massive commitment to sift through all the scripts and select the winners. The high level of entries makes this quite a significant competition, and by facilitating this competition we are delighted once again to highlight the significance of the amateur theatre community’s contribution to artistic endeavour all over Ireland.
